Rev. José Morales Orozco, SJ

Ordained a Jesuit priest in 1975, Rev. José Morales Orozco, SJ, has served as president of the Universidad IberoamericanaMexico City since 2004. He holds undergraduate degrees in literature, philosophy, and theology and received his PhD in theology from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Madrid, Spain). This past May, he was reelected for his second two-year term as president of the Association of Jesuit Universities of Latin America (AUSJAL). In addition, he is an elected member of the National Association of Universities and Institutes of Higher Education (ANUIES) in Mexico.

Rev. Morales Orozco has also served as president of the Instituto Libre de Filosofía y Ciencias in Guadalajara, Mexico (1982-1989); provincial of the Jesuit province in Mexico (1989-1995); and president of both the Conference of Religious Women and Men of Mexico (CIRM) and the Conference of Northern Latin American Jesuit Provincials (1990-1995). After his term as provincial, he served until 2003 as general adviser for Jesuit Formation and Vocation Promotion for the Jesuit Superior General P. Peter-Hans Kovenbach, SJ. He has also regularly served as an editor and contributor for the journal Christus.
